The Process
Oval Seas is about emphasising the intrinsic beauty
in simple and sustainable handmade processes.
The idea of a garment is deconstructed to its most
basic components, resulting in a collection of minimal
flat hand knitted forms.
The body activates and enhances the knitted
structures while the knitwear reveals and accentuates
parts of the body.
Simplicity and honesty in the production process
is our main focus, which in turn leads us to achieve
ingenious and thoughtfully constructed design.
New ideas and collections take form through
experimentation and intuitive making,
while our hands are in direct dialogue with the material
and structure we develop.
Each piece is unique and finely
handknitted in Amsterdam.

We care about how it looks, but most importantly
we care about how it’s made.

You support our efforts to bring stronger ethical and environmental values to the world of fashion.
You support our research around textiles crafts and handmade processes.
You support a community of artists and makers, with whom we collaborate in order to bring new ideas of jewellery, performative arts, photography, etc.
You basically support people that are thinking hard on how to make things better and put so much efforts into it, while it would be so much easier and lucrative to do otherwise.
Unlike most other brands:
We don’t promise you we’ll do better in the future, we do it now in the best way possible.
We value creativity over profit.
We don’t use mood boards and ideas from other people.
We don’t think of success in terms of how much money we make but in how we’re able to support our community and local environment.
We resist the established order,
i.e. the pull of capitalism that tells us we should be making money by exploiting people and natural resources to our advantage.
